We gained Respect Accreditation

It has been a long 2 year journey, but we super proud to announce that we have been accredited by Respect. This is a big achievement, there are approximately 25 agencies nationally that hold accreditation status - it is a hallmark of safe and effective practice.

The journey has involved numerous site visits, staff interviews, we have had every policy and practice examined. We are delighted to have had our hard work recognised and we look forward to continuing

We've moved!

After 3 years in Leamington we have moved our South Warwickshire office - you will now find us at -

Ground Floor, Unit 4, Charles Court, Budbrooke Road, CV34 5LZ

If you ever visited our Leamington office you will understand why we are finally so pleased to be in a ground floor office!

Covid 19 Update - November 2020

With the news of another lockdown, we just want to update you on the measures that we have in place to continue to offer therapy.

We have seen a massive increase in the number of referrals to our service, and for the first time ever we have a waiting list for individual therapy. This is not comfortable for either Bev or Donna, we understand that when people need therapy they need to access effective therapy, delivered by fabulous counsellors, to suit their schedule with a short waiting time frame. We get it.

We have therefore extended our group programme. Group will run every week until Christmas, facilitated by either Bev or Donna. This is an open group for adult victims of abuse and will be delivered via Teams/Zoom. Please contact us for a link to group sessions.

We are also extending our team of amazing therapists, we have training dates booked throughout November. If successful, those therapists will increase our individual capacity.

However, whilst we are doing all that we can, our current therapists have been working tirelessly throughout the stages of lockdown. Most have their own children and so are having to adapt to schools closing/having a reduced timetable and maintain their client sessions.

So we want to say that we are still dedicated to delivering an outstanding service. There may be a short delay in accessing individual therapy but we are doing all that we can to mitigate that wait.

And to our amazing therapists - thank you. You have and continue to work so hard for us.

Covid - 19 Update

As the Government continues to ease lockdown restrictions, we want to update you on our return to in-person sessions.

We believe that we will be able to begin a staged return once the Government announce that hairdressers can go back to work. This isn't because of vanity (lol) but because therapy sessions happen in a relatively small space for a similar time period.

Due to the nature of play therapy and the guidelines released by PTUK, we feel that we will need to delay re-starting these sessions. Therefore, we will start introducing adult/teen sessions to begin with.

We will be making adjustments to our diary system to reduce the number of people in the building and we have additional hand sanitising equipment available. We will be wiping down chairs/doors and any equipment used in between sessions.

We will be contacting all of our existing clients in due course, to arrange individual sessions. Please be aware, some of our lovely counselling team have children at home, which could prevent them from working from the office. In these instances, online platforms will continue to be utilised.

We hope that these plans do everything that we can to keep everyone safe. If you need any info please don't hesitate to get in touch -

Warwickshire- wide DVPP

We have some fabulous news…

We have received funding to deliver our DVPP across Warwickshire - yay! This project is a combination of 1-1 and group therapy sessions to provide an opportunity for change for people who have or are using abusive behaviours in their relationships. The project name is the ….

Change Project

The project has been in a pilot phase and was named by a previous group as they felt the whole ethos of the project was to enable people to decide to adjust their behaviour and change theirs and their family’s lives. We have just completed our second cohort and the feedback has been fabulous so far! The project is undergoing an external evaluation, we will share the outcome report as soon as we have it.

We are just getting ready to hand in our accreditation application with Respect for this project. Respect are the agency who oversee and accredit programmes in the UK so fingers crossed we will be one of the few agencies who will hold accredited status very soon.

Anyway, we are now accepting referrals for this project- this project is fully funded by Warwickshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner and so we are delighted that there is no fee to individuals or professionals for accessing the project and we will provide engagement reports to anyone who requires one.

Please contact us if you would like to make a self referral, if you have any questions or to request a referral form from our lovely Service Coordinator, Abi

Remembering our friend

Being a therapist can be hard - you listen to some horrific experiences, you see trauma and distress on a daily basis, you learn about the depravity of humans through their victims.

The really difficult days are sometimes managed with a dark sense of humour but always managed with your work colleagues. They pull you through, give you a cuddle, wipe your tears and tell you that you can only do what you can do.

Today we heard news that a friend of ours sadly passed away. We really wish that we would have had the chance to say goodbye. Out of respect for her family we aren't naming her. But that doesn't stop us remembering her...

Every day our friend and colleague always got her lunch out of the fridge at 11am, just in case it was too cold at lunchtime and she wouldn't let anybody else wash her cup, for fear of them being contaminated haha. She always ate cake on a weekend and she was always ready to wrap her arms around you on a bad day.

With a heavy heart and love we remember you our friend xxx

Covid-19 Update

Following Government guidelines, we are (temporarily) no longer able to offer our clients in-person therapeutic sessions.

HOWEVER…we know that the current restrictions add pressure to families in general. We also know that for some families abuse will increase/ commence during this time. We feel that our service is needed now more than ever. Therefore we are continuing to work, we are offering assessments, group and individual therapy to our clients via telephone/online platforms. We know that this can feel daunting, but after much experimentation, we are confident that this format allows us to deliver a valuable and reliable service.

For our professional co-workers - thank you for your support during this transition, we are accepting referrals, please contact us if you require any information.

Stay safe, stay home

Coronavirus

We would like to set out our plans for managing a possible escalation in the Coronavirus. We will follow all Government guidance at each stage.

A coronavirus is a type of virus. As a group, coronaviruses are common across the world. Typical symptoms of coronavirus include fever and a cough that may progress to a severe pneumonia causing shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. Generally, coronavirus can cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, older people, and those with long-term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease (gov.uk website)

Current Steps We have soap available at our Leamington Spa office. Please wash your hands regularly. For outreach posts please follow the guidelines of the on site organisation. We are using an antibacterial spray on hard surfaces and will continue to do this regularly.

If we have to close the office for quarantine reasons Provided this is a precautionary step and staff are well, we will wherever possible, be offering clients telephone/video call sessions.

If we have a confirmed case We will take isolation steps as advised by Government agencies. Telephone therapy may not be available to clients.

If you require any further advice or guidance please visit the gov.uk website. Call 111 if you are concerned about symptoms

Thank you - stay healthy

Happy New Year

We hope that you have had a fabulous and peaceful Christmas and New Year.

As our Christmas holiday comes to an end and we prepare to return to the office, we have been reflecting on the last 12 months. In truth it was a whirlwind of a year. The highlight was moving into our own office space and this has made such a difference to our agency, particularly in terms of the services and appointments that we can offer. As we start 2020 we will be extending our evening appointments, meaning that offering a flexible service to our clients and team of counsellors is more achievable. We have been very lucky to secure increased funding, which we never take for granted. We know how the landscape for grants has changed over the last 10 years and we greatly appreciate the support that we receive.

We already have a year full of exciting events booked and new training on the horizon. Additionally, 2020 will bring Bev’s graduation for her degree in Psychology and should see Donna qualify as a Forensic Psychologist. Both have worked incredibly hard to secure this level of qualification and both feel proud of their dedication to continual improvement.

So, here’s to 2020, let’s hope for happiness and success for us all

New office

So over the summer we had the pleasure of moving into our new office space. It was as exhausting as it was exciting. For the last 3 years we have been trying to maximise funding by hiring rooms across the county, however, that didn’t give us the most opportunity to offer evening appointments. So, we took the plunge and now we have new offices, with the luxury of offering appointments to suit our client’s needs. PLUS we have a toaster!

We have launched our Victim’s Service, meaning that we can offer free therapy to current/previous victims of domestic abuse. This is such a milestone for us and something that we are determined to offer.

Anyhow, will drop by soon to update you!

We have a big day tomorrow…

About 15 months ago we talked about our dream list of projects. Some projects on our list are very serious, after all we are providing therapy for (often) vulnerable people. But some projects are feel good, memory making and just for fun. Tomorrow we run a just-for-fun day as we hold our first party for families who are living in temporary accommodation because of domestic abuse, and we are very excited.

The impact of domestic abuse on children is scarily enormous, but we believe that we can help by offering experiences that are safe, emotionally considered, child-led and memorable for all the right reasons. We honestly believe that children who have been affected by domestic abuse can never have enough positive experiences. Some experiences help them to make sense of what they have lived through, but some experiences offer a chance to build new memories.

Support services in Warwickshire offer incredible services to victims of abuse at such a crucial time. It is amazing for us to work with specialist services to compliment their work. So tomorrow we have a traditional kids party, jelly, pass the parcel and a teddy bear for each child to take home. And most importantly, a chance to build new memories.

Rubbish at this stuff!

This page is supposed to be where we keep you informed about projects, new funding and company developments as well as employment opportunities. In truth we are a bit rubbish at self promotion and we normally find ourselves working with clients or applying for more funding to work with clients. So we apologise in advance if this page is a bit light on content, we will try to keep you all better informed
